Junior High at Compass Montessori

In the second week of school, our class traveled to the Upper Peninsula! We left bright and early Monday morning and drove all the way up to Sault St. Marie, where we visited the River of History Museum and the Tower of History. These museums were so interesting, and we even participated in a scavenger hunt at the River of History.

For our last trip of the 2025-2026  school year, we traveled out to North Manitou Island for our annual backpacking excursion. We started our day by driving to Leland and boarding a boat towards the island. The boat ride was full of laughs and ended with soaking-wet clothes due to the fierce waves. Once we arrived on the island, we immediately started our hike. We trekked through beautiful green forests and walked about nine miles on day one.

In March and April, our workshop was on the Industrial Revolution. Our project was for each student to choose a topic about a company or an event that took place during the Industrial Revolution in Chicago. We had students pick topics from transportation, tragic events, companies, and tech inventions.
