Student Art Projects
We overheard parents were surprised they couldn’t bid on the classroom art projects at the gala! So, we are putting them up for auction! Bidding opens today and closes next Friday, May 3 at 5:30 p.m. Images are also available for digital download.

Grandparents & Special Friends Days
On Friday, May 24, we will host our 20th annual Grandparents & Special Friends Day on our main campus. This is a heartwarming day when grandparents and special friends are treated to a musical performance, campus tours, and time spent in the classroom with their grandchildren. This is one of the best “feel-good” events of the year! Volunteers are needed, sign up today!
Compass Junior High will host their Grandparents & Special Friends Day at our Park Street Campus at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 23! Volunteers are also needed, sign up today!
New! Thank you Safe Kids North Shore led by Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department
Our students enjoyed a Fire & Life Safety presentation with Fire Dogs, Kasey and Karmel. The presentation gave students instructions on how to handle an in-home fire emergency safely. Students were instructed to discuss a meeting spot with their families. A good meeting spot is something that doesn't move, such as a tree or a neighbor's porch. Smoke detector batteries should be changed twice a year at the same time we change our clocks for daylight savings. Make sure there is a smoke alarm on every level of the home, inside each bedroom, and outside each sleeping area. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for installation and lifespan of smoke alarms.

Today the kitchen staff was surprised with a Lunch Hero Day! All the classrooms offered gestures of gratitude such as flowers, baked goods and dish duties. We are so very grateful for our lovely kitchen staff and the nutritious and delicious food they prepare for us daily. Thank you Andrea, Brenda and Sarah!
New! End of the Year Ceremonies
Moving Up Night (Tuesday, June 4) is a celebration of students moving from one Plane of Development up to the next. Moving Up Night honors Kindergarten and 6th-year students and celebrates their achievements and growth over the three-year class cycle.
8th Year Graduation (Wednesday, June 5) is our ceremony recognizing the accomplishments of our 8th-year graduates. This event is for families, faculty and staff to celebrate our students growth and future endeavors.
Field Day (Thursday, June 6) is a great day of outdoor fun for all of the children in The Children’s House and Compass Junior High community! Activities include tug-of-war, potato sack races, dancing, face painting, a smoothie bike and ice cream. Students may also purchase a hot dog lunch (veggie dogs available) on Boonli!
Dance of the Cosmos (Friday, June 7) happens on the last day of school and has been a tradition at TCH since the school was founded in 1984. The students shine in this celebration: a recognition of the importance of each of them in our community. Also recognized are the children who have completed the third year of their classroom cycle (Kindergarteners, 3rd years, 6th years, and 8th years). Campus closes after the ceremony at Noon.

Update! Pit Spitters Reading Club
The Traverse City Pit Spitters will be kicking off the 2024 season this month! We cannot wait to see all the hard-working students at the Reading Club games in May and June. To learn how to redeem vouchers for tickets see the attached form. As a quick reminder the 3 ways to redeem the Reading Club Vouchers are:
- Online: Follow the steps on the attached form to select the exact seats you want for the game. You can also purchase additional tickets at this time if you need to have any extra. This is the quickest and easiest way to get your tickets for one of the Reading Club Pit Spitters Games this year!
- The Box Office: You can redeem your vouchers at our Box Office before or on the day of the game of your choosing.
- Calling the box office at 231-943-0100.
We encourage you to use Honeycomb to coordinate gatherings with your fellow Children’s House families! If your vouchers didn’t make it home, there are extras available at the front desk.
