Brain Booster Camp
6 to 12 year olds
Skill Building and Skill Retention

6 weeks: June 29 - August 5 | Tuesdays, Thursdays; 1:00 - 3:30 | $150
Retain the skills you gained over the school year and build new ones in our six week Brain Booster Camp. Individualized lessons are presented in our Montessori elementary classroom by an experienced elementary Montessori guide. Activities in math, reading, language and science await you.
Nadine Elmgren, instructor: Nadine has taught Montessori primary and elementary classes at TCH since 1988. She holds Montessori certification at the primary and elementary levels.

Baby Sitter's Training Course
11 to 15 year olds
Presented by The Children's House and The American Red Cross
June 28, 29, 30, July 1; 12:00 - 4:00 | $60 ($46 for year-round students)
This highly respected course includes: certifications in infant/child CPR and basic first aid; basic emergency information; child development overview; diapering instruction and practice; developing a business and marketing plan; healthy snacks; and certificate of completion from the Red Cross. The final day is spent in infant-toddler and preschool classrooms at The Children's House practicing new skills under the supervision of TCH teachers.
Mary Fisher, American Red Cross instructor: Mary is a certified ARC Instructor. She has taught CPR, first aid and baby sitting clinics for the past several years.

Baby Sitter CPR Renewal
Required Annually
July 1; 12:00 - 4:00 | $10
This certification must be renewed annually to keep the card current, and is perfect for last year's course participants or students who received their Red Cross Baby Sitter CPR at another location.

Up North Archaeology
9 to 12 year olds
Presented by The Children's House, The Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve and Samels Family Heritage Society
August 9 - 13; 9:00 - 4:00 | $175 (financial assistance is available for this class)
Spend a week exploring archaeology right here in our Up North backyard. We'll visit a lighthouse to learn about maritime archaeology, tour a 10,000 year old site and get a glimpse of some shipwrecks. We'll study the tools and techniques archaeologists use to uncover the past and put them to use in an outdoor dig right here on campus.
Melissa Johnson, instructor: Melissa has worked as an exhibit developer for The Field Museum in Chicago and managed archaeological projects in the U.S. and Belize. She holds a M.A. from the University of Illinois in Anthropology, a M.Ed from Depaul University in Elementary Education, and is a certified K-9 teacher.

Father & Son Kayak Trip
August 7 - all day | $40 / person
Fathers and sons can enjoy a day on the river with an experienced outdoor educator and wilderness guide. The trip includes plenty of paddling instruction and practice, meals and opportunities for camaraderie. The trip location will be determined based on the skill levels and interests of the participants.
